Summer Reruns: Cue the Weirdness
I don't know if it was having Barron Storey as an instructor or just a desire to try new things with my art but those sketchbooks from 1996 and 1997 have some whacked out stuff in them. Before this and many times after, my sketchbooks might have the more traditional representational figures or comic book superheroes. But with these books, I was trying to break out of that.
Really, this is how one's sketchbook should be. Besides more representational studies, it is an artist's testing grounds for trying new things that could be used later in a final piece.
The black contrast really helps with the figures above but I should get back to creating more weird creatures and forms.
