The Charles M. Schulz Museum Part IV-The Studio

Upstairs and in one of the rooms, they tried to replicate Schulz's studio. I doubt things were ever thing sparkling clean but it is interesting to note the set up and materials used.

On the other side of the studio are several bookcases with many books. But, apparently, this was only a fraction of his book collection. Still, the Bill Mauldin book stood out. He was a famous cartoonist that depicted the every day life of the soldier during WWII. I'm sure Schulz could relate along with draw inspiration from Maudlin.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum Part III-Artwork Before and Beyond Peanuts

One of the things that caught my eye at the museum was the unseen artwork by Charles Schulz not related to Peanuts. Above is a ink and watercolor piece done in 1991.

Above and below are drawings or when he was a child or a young man. Note the repetition of objects. That will come in handy with drawing PEANUTS for 50 years.

Schulz also did some lettering along with some cartooning for some comic books. This I did not know.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum Part II-The Mural

Part Two of my trip to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. One of the things that gets your attention is this ceramic mural. From a distance, it is the classic scene of Charlie Brown about to kick the football while Lucy holds it (before she yanks it away). 

The mural its self takes up one whole wall.

But what is this? It seems the image is made up of many smaller images.

Yes, many smaller images! Peanut cartoon strips, that is!

The Charles M. Schulz Museum Part I-Around the Grounds

Getaway day on Monday as I took advantage of the last bit of our Indian Summer and went to the Russian River which I had not been to in years. On the way back, I stopped off in Santa Rosa at the Charles M. Schulz Museum. It was my first visit so I didn't know what to expect.

In the lobby and in the front of the museum along with the back, there are some Peanuts statues. This one above is from the back and features a crossword Linus. Inside the museum, one can get the actual crossword to work on.

In the lobby. I suppose this is suppose to be Sally but I keep thinking it looks like Charlie Brown in drag. Go Chuck!! Fly that Freak Flag!!! lol

Above: In the back is a rather large Charlie Brown shirt.

Also in the back gardens is a Snoopy bench statue.

Before entering the museum, one can see another Snoopy statue on his dog house.

Woodstock also shares the back area bench with Snoopy.

A rather odd construction version of Charlie Brown. I like to think of it as the Charlie Brown Terminator 3,000.

And this stylin' Charlie Brown greets you in front of the museum.
