Pitchforks & Torches!!
The poor Amish! Always the butt of a joke, right? It's easy 'cause it's not like they're ever going to see the joke online! (That was another joke there. 0 for 2, Amish!)
I wonder if the pitchfork and torch thing was subliminal? I've been seeing more and more folks complaining online via Facebook or Twitter about things. Complaining about politics or even Facebook itself!!! I'm just learning to tune out the craziness in some people's statements as they get reactionary and rush down to the hardware store to fetch a new pitchfork and torch. Save the Drama for the stage, peoples!! I prefer using humor to deflate the craziness. It seems like a good approach when dealing with nut cases like the Westboro Church boycotting Comic-Con back in 2010. (Google the counter protest signs if you want a good laugh)
It's not like I don't have strong opinions or there isn't things worth getting passionate about. But I think I'm just learning that happiness begins at home and I should spend less time getting worked up about shifting political pendulums in Washington D.C. or petty shit on television. It sounds bad because I use to be more involved but my motto lately has been that I can't worry about saving the world when I'm too worried about saving my home life. Sounds selfish, I know, but home life for me is far from being a selfish endeavor.
Part of me is just learning to be a more tolerant person. That's one of the lessons I got after 9/11 ten years ago. The rest of the nation seems to have gone in the opposite direction though. The irony is they then become exactly like Osama Bin Laden when it comes to a lack of tolerance. It isn't the planes flying into buildings that will destroy the USA but what we do ourselves to destroy it. But that is okay! If we fall, another nation will take they lead in the world. And if we aren't content to keep our shit within our own borders and something worse happens, maybe the cockroaches who survive and evolve in a hundred thousand years will do a better job. Life goes on.
Wow, I got all heavy and political. I gotta knock that shit off and get back to my scribbles and pictures!
