J.C. Leyendecker at the Haggin Museum-Part II

With this July 4th, 1936 SATURDAY EVENING POST cover, I'm amazed at how he executed the metal and the ship's wheel...





Back in those early days of illustration, the illustrator was often a graphic designer and had to do the type as well. Leyendecker certainly had this down as well….
