The World of 1895
So tonight was my mid-term for the animation class. I felt I was behind and yet had way more to show than I needed in secondary and tertiary characters but was neglecting other areas like my background drawings. So I was pushing this past week to bang everything into shape. These past three days I especially pushed while neglecting a lot of things I needed to get done this week and instead just focused on the art with many all-nighters. But I'd then sleep during the day except for this past night in which I only managed about three hours of sleep. But I had certain goals that I wanted to get done and I'm not very good at editing and keeping things simple so I just went with completing everything to the point where I was personally satisfied with the work.
The goal with tonight's mid-term was to give a pitch for your movie idea and sell the class on it. I'd give the basic plot and then show my character designs, backgrounds, animation turns, and animatics and animations. Since this was a second pass on this project for me, I'd be presenting many of the things I showed last semester with some updates plus a lot of the secondary characters from the 1895 and 5173 time eras which I've been focusing on this semester.
I was first up for the presentations and I think it went well but I did run longer than I planned on. My big push now means I won't have to push as hard and show as much for the final in a month. Originally, I thought I might go back to my Morlock cave animatic and get some more pencil tests in but, in all honesty, I'm sick of looking at the thing and I've already come to the conclusion that I don't want to be an animator. After dragging my feet for weeks on backgrounds, I AM enjoying them now and might spend my last month working up some still image illustrations of the futuristic 5173 London. Originally, teaching myself digital painting for backgrounds was the plan for this semester and, while the digital painting didn't happen, maybe the backgrounds can.
So what I'm showing here are the new and improved images I showed in class. This is all for the 1895 characters.
